Zipline!

Jacob has been in a gymnastics class and he loves it. One of his favorite things is the zipline. Here is a video of him in action

We went recently to an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Union Station in Tampa. The highlight of course was Jacob getting to see a big train up close and going inside. He really enjoyed it. We are planning on taking him to a railroad museum in the next couple of weeks where they have train rides with some old steam locomotives. They are having some type of Thomas event as well so we will see what that is. I am sure he will love it.

Happy 2nd Birthday Jakie!!

Jake had his second birthday last week. It's hard to believe he's already two! He had a couple small parties to celebrate with his family and friends. Thomas the Train was the main theme. He is still wild about choo choos. He received lots of fun gifts -- a Thomas tent, a Thomas pillow, more Thomas trains, Twilight turtle, Thomas books, Thomas PJs, money for his piggy bank, etc.

He also had his 2nd year check up and passed with flying colors. Here are his stats...

34 inches tall
26 lbs.

He's still trending in the 25-50%. He also got a hep-A and a flu shot. He cried, but quickly stopped and was proud to show everyone his bandaid and booboo.

His vocabulary is still expanding and moving more into lots of two+ word phrases. One of his favorite is "No way" and another is "big airplane in sky". He also loves to play tag with his sister and the neighborhood gang. He is just TWO much fun!!

Here's a few pictures from this month. Jake had a good time playing at Anna Maria Island on the 4th of July. It's been a hot month so he's been playing in the water from time to time. This weekend his uncle visited and we spent one afternoon at the zoo.

Jakie is growing pretty fast and is at a really fun age now. He somehow now likes to call his sister something that sounds like "Cho" or "Jo". We're not sure where he got this from but he's decided he's sticking with it. We're also taking him to some little gym classes. He's at the perfect age for the class and he gets to climb and run around. Many times he's the loudest boy in the class and claps and yells "YAY" at the end of each song and yells "Bubbles" when the bubbles come out. They get little stamps on their hands and feet at the end of class and just like his sister, he runs to be first in line and holds out his hands and feet.

He's also getting pretty good at singing and dancing. His sister is always singing and dancing and he likes to join in. His favorite songs are now Happy Birthday and ABC's.

Jacob at 18 months

Jacob just had his year and a half checkup and is doing great! Here are his stats...

Wt 24 lbs 8oz (25-50th percentile)
ht 31 1/2 inches (25th percentile)
hc 19 1/2 (90%)

These are pretty much in line with where's he's been for the last year so he seems to be growing well but trending on the small but beefy side.

He is a really funny boy and keeps us laughing all the time. He loves to ride his Choo around and now he seems to be into racing it really fast around through the kitchen and dining room. It's pretty funny to see.

He's super sweet but incredibly stubborn at the same time. He loves to fit pieces together such as the latches on his booster seat.

He's really got personality and it shines through these days. He's got a strong, commanding voice and his vocabulary is growing everyday. While he's probably got 20-40 words, his favorites are:

Outside (he yells this and gets excited to go outside)
Shoes
doggie (still a favorite)
Choo Choo (still a favorite)
Hippo
JT (He can say his name if we call him JT)
Agua
socks

He also likes to pretend to sneeze by throwing his head back very dramatically. Ah.. Ah... Ah.. Chooooo.

Jakie's first haircut

Last week, Jakie got his first haircut. He has such crazy curls, we didn't want to cut them off. But, we decided we waited long enough. He still has a bunch of curls but I thought he looks extremely handsome in his new do. He didn't even cry! It helps that he got to sit in a jeep and watch cartoons during his trim.

Here are some before and after pictures. (The bottom one is after!) Here he is in his best GQ pose! You can also see he's also wearing his favorite blue Crocs which he got from his cousin. He gets so excited and says "shoes, shoes" when we tell him we're going to put them on.
