Jacob's 1st Christmas

At 8 weeks old, Jacob celebrated his 1st Christmas. He mostly took in the excitement and watched as his sister opened his gifts and hers. Grandma Sue and Uncle Trevor were here to celebrate with him.

This past week, he had his 2 month check up and weighed 11.3 lbs and was 22 inches long. He also got 4 shots and a liquid for the rotavirus -- poor guy. He handled them well and didn't develop a fever or get irritable. Well, except for the initial crying but who could blame him.

Here are a few pictures....

Here's a few updated pictures of Jacob. He's 7 weeks old today. He had his first visit with Santa a few days ago. It was a little scary he said.

Here are his tiny toes!

He likes to look around at his surroundings when he's awake. He's keeping us busy. He feeds every three hours and we try to stick to the Babywise schedule of feed, awake time and then sleep. During the day, he sometimes (not always) has trouble with the sleeping part. He doesn't seem to be the napper that Kayla was but that could change. He's always been pretty good at night though. He just wakes to eat and then goes back down which is nice.

Jacob has started smiling at us. Somehow the 3am feedings aren't as bad when he gives you a big smile.
I tried to get a good picture of a smile but I was only lucky enough to get a small one while he was sleeping.
This is also a pretty peaceful shot taken on a day that he was very fussy.
This shot also shows off his hair loss!

Jacob's 1 month doctor visit

Jacob went to the doctor yesterday for his 1 mo. checkup and he's doing great.

Here are his stats:

Ht: 21.5 in.
Wt: 9.3 lbs

His weight gain was good. They normally expect 1 ounce gained per day and he gained 32 ounces (2 lbs) since our last visit 28 days ago.

He had an umbilical granuloma which they treated with silver nitrate. His umbilical cord took 3 weeks to fall off and once it did, it still had a little discharge so this easy treatment should clear that up.

The doctor also noticed that his head favors looking to his left so we're getting him to look to the right in order to head off any problems early.

His hair is also falling out and he is definitely exhibiting male patterned baldness! But, I guess this is normal and it'll eventually grow back.

Last, Jacob had to get his 2nd Hep B shot. His next visit is at 2 months and unfortunately he's due to get 4 shots then. Please, don't tell him about that!
